There is an additional 3.35% Management Differential which is added to the posted salary for this class.
The Waste Management Operations Manager class manages an operational section, program or function. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operation for a major function, such as collection operation, transfer station operation and disposal operation. Under direction, the class provides input to long-term planning and budget projection and monitoring within a major function. The class assists the Waste Management Superintendent.
Positions in this series are responsible for the residential refuse collection; a year-round neighborhood cleanup program; transfer and disposal operations; curbside recycling; green waste collection and other resource recovery and waste division programs; and regulation of commercial haulers and related solid waste activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of full-time experience in solid waste collection, transfer and disposal, three years of which must have been at the supervisory level.
AND
An Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited two-year college with major course work in environmental planning and management; environmental studies; solid waste planning; the physical sciences; business administration; public administration; human resources management; or other closely related field.
Note: Additional qualifying full-time experience as a supervisor in solid waste collection and disposal may be substituted for the education requirement identified above on a one for one basis (one year of experience equals one year of education).
Note: The word “experience” referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the job announcement states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
